Sufficiency, the Key to Sustainability

The Abundance mentality is killing our planet, and we need to stop it. We are destroying the sustainability for our species as we have for many others…

Yet, abundance is all we hear about. “Live a life of abundance!” “Live the life of your dreams!” Drive the new car, try the new mega-platter at your favorite restaurant, drink the best liquor to be the life of the party with the most friends and most fun.

At the same time, we abhor greed, selfishness and domination. These are the people who are ruining the world, right? And if I want bigger, better, newer, more, am I being greedy or selfish?

We are programmed with contradictory messages that set us up for failure. And this is part of the plan for the human journey to realize Truth.

There are 3 things the Divine put into the human to transition us from our connection to the bliss of Oneness to the experience of life on the 3D material earth. They are:

Our need for food, sustenance, and maintaining our physical well-being.
Our desire for relationship, family and children.
A desire for purpose, individuality, success and increase.

These are the main areas we struggle with. How can we be with these needs and use them as pathways for honoring God and the planet instead of destroying ourselves and the planet.

It is the 3rd point that drives us to want more – beyond that which sustains us – and it can be fueled by underlying fears – fears of not having enough for survival, fears of needing to provide for family or attract love, and fears of not fulfilling purpose before we reach the finish line.

The fears can propel us into a constant underlying vibe of not-enoughness. The not-enoughness propels us to seek the abundance. Seeking success from a state of fear doesn’t work for most people, and in fact, it can produce a serious backlash resulting in detrimental over-consumption and debt.

Each of us is given a course to travel on this planet – lessons to learn and purpose to fulfill. There is a Divine orchestration that provides exactly what we need to traverse that course.

If we can really get this and trust that God provides us exactly what we need to have and be what we are here for, we can receive the sufficiency of what God provides without the fear that propels us into tail-spinning over-work, and without over-consuming and over-taxing the resources of the planet. We must do this for sustainability of our future.

This is the focus of today’s Prayer & Healing Circle – increasing trust in God’s plan and provision and resting into the Sufficiency of what the Divine orchestration brings us, and RECEIVING what is waiting for us to open up and say YES.
