Letting Go of the Old You

Growing up is hard. Trying to find who you are. Trying to fit in. Wanting to be loved and accepted. Wanting to belong to a tribe that wants us to belong…

We take on personas and engage in activities that we hope will give us what we need. Undoubtedly, we later regret some of those actions. We feel embarrassed of who we tried to be and all the ways we were not true to ourselves.

This was my path, and I know I was not alone. In this episode I get emotional, something I don’t do often on the podcast, in sharing a story from my past and present that came up for more clearing…

On Friday, a very dear friend passed away. We were best friends in junior high and high school, and we reconnected and rekindled our friendship 5 years ago when I moved home to care for my dad. We were partners in crime during this phase of trying to figure out where we belong. We made a few mistakes that we lived to regret.

As I was sitting in prayer and meditation after her passing, I began seeing scenes from that timeframe – all the people and habits we thought were cool then that we both know for sure are not cool now.

I recognized there some ways I was still accepting these old behaviors and allowing them to be present in my life through family members. I was accepting behaviors from people I love that are in no way okay.

I recognized how these old imprints were still living in my field. It was as if my friend was showing me from the other side and helping me purge these old patterns from my energy body. The release was giving me a firmness I can transmit to my loved ones that says with certainty this is not acceptable, not for me or for them.

Those old personas that tried to be cool back in the day – we’re going to clean up and purge the residual energies so your total environment can be a reflection of the truth you carry now. Share on X

When we begin the journey of healing, it’s common to close the door on the old you as you uncover the truth that has been waiting inside you.

I’m not a huge fan of re-living the past, but I do believe in purging the old energies and energetic templates that once defined you. The old identities that you once clung to just to get along and be accepted can still hang out in certain parts of your body, and they need to be released.

The old patterns affect your physical posture and structure, your body’s functioning, and your subconscious behaviors and thought patterns, and what continues to show up in your life through others.
