I just watched the movie Fed Up, and I am – Fed Up! Also heart-broken. I’m excited to take the 10-Day Sugar-Free Challenge. I feel like we owe it to the kids! If you want to join me, watch the movie this weekend – we can start the challenge together on Monday.
You can rent the movie on Amazon for $3.99. Then join me on facebook if you’re on board – Facebook.com/JoyfullyLiving. I’ll be putting out info all week next week to hopefully inform and inspire.
Interesting thing is that I eat mostly organic and don’t eat much processed foods, but I do use honey and grade B maple syrup plus organic dark chocolate bars, which I’ll be trying to live without during the challenge. I feel like this is going to be a challenge for me – I can’t imagine how hard it is for kids who are growing up immersed in typical American culture of fast foods and convenience foods.
I’ve been studying a lot about food addiction – it is REAL!! Foods are being engineered to trigger addiction, and kids are susceptible to addiction as early as 3-5 years old. We really do need to turn this earth ship around. If you have kids in your care or in your life, please help them to have real foods in their diets – help them to understand what is real.
If we want to make the world a better place for our kids and future generations, we have to start with ourselves. I came away from this movie feeling like – it’s the least I can do – to live by example – and it can’t be as challenging for me because I know what real food is and I love it – I don’t really have that much to change. Many kids don’t have the exposure to real foods that I have had.
I hope you feel inspired by the movie. Leave a comment below or hop over to facebook – I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks!
Debra
