This past week, another school shooting took lives of a teacher and 9 students, some only a week from their high school graduation. This one is in a neighboring town, near where eleven of my great-nieces and great-nephews go to school, and one of my sisters is a substitute teacher.
My heart grieves for those who lost their lives or were injured and for all those who are left traumatized by this event. And I am grateful for the safety of my loved ones.

The shooter in this case, currently in custody, said he intentionally did not hurt people he liked, because he wants his story to be told.
I cannot imagine what goes through the mind, heart, psyche of someone who is driven to commit such an act. However, I believe every story needs to be told. I believe there is healing in the telling, and healing in the listening. We have much to learn from each other.
Much like our current program, While We Were Silent, which explores what happens in the silence when we keep our stories of pain and suffering locked inside, we can find great freedom in unlocking the walls that bind us. When we open up in a safe way, sometimes only to ourselves, the healing can begin.
Though today we may not audibly hear the stories of this school shooter or the many others who are suffering with their untold stories, we can offer prayers of love, compassion and healing for their spirits.
In today’s Prayer & Healing Circle, we will call in the spirits of all those who are willing and wanting to be heard, and we will offer for them the Ho’Oponopono prayer practice.
I love you.
I’m sorry.
Please forgive me.
Thank you.
On behalf of all humanity, we offer this prayer. We all have the power to relieve suffering for our brothers and sisters, to contribute to the healing of each other, individually and as a collective humanity. No one carries their pain alone. We are all one.
