Healing from Humiliation

Humiliation is a topic I’ve had a lot of personal experience with. For better or worse, it’s one of the many unpleasant experiences we all go through on our earth journey…

Our humiliating experiences can have lasting impact. However, the process of healing from humiliation can bring about profound self-realization and empowerment.

If you recall a time when you felt humiliated, you probably felt yourself shrink, become small, or maybe you wished you would shrink into nothingness so you would not be seen in your diminished state of weakness or shame.

This is the nature of humiliation. As an energetic force, the nature of the energy that integrates into the body as a result of humiliation is that it wants to diminish the part of us that feels humiliated or shamed so that it cannot be seen. Similar to shame and guilt, this makes it tricky to access.

Yet it is so very important to heal. In fact, humiliation is one of the commonly cited factors that leads to teen suicide.

When a part of us has shrunk to almost nothing, we naturally protect the hidden parts from further pain – we suppress and deny the part of us that is in hiding. This may show up as unworthiness, self-loathing, lack of confidence or hopelessness. Or we compensate with a boosted ego, showing up as arrogance, bullying others or even inflated stories to make ourselves feel more important or more successful that we actually believe ourselves to be.

However, the part of us that has been humiliated is the part that most needs love. It needs to experience the unconditional love and acceptance that it has been denied.

But how do we access something so deeply buried, especially when it has occurred in the distant past? This is when healing with Divine Attributes can have a powerful impact.

Divine Attributes are the qualities of the Divine that emanate from the Source of Unity and exist within the life force energy that gives life and consciousness to our physical human experience. They are the basic elements that our souls are here to gain knowledge of on this earth journey.

Healing with the Divine Attributes involves speaking their Names, or Sound Codes, into the places that need healing. The Sound Code produces a vibration that is the same vibration as the attribute it names. So when you say the Name of the Attribute, you are invoking the energy of that attribute. Sound Codes are spoken in a Sacred language, such as Arabic, Aramaic, Hebrew or Sanskrit

The Attributes and Sound Codes we’ll use today are
– Al-Khafid, Diminishment – the One Who Lowers
– Ar-Rafi’, Exaltation – the One Who Elevates

In today’s Prayer & Healing Circle, we use these Divine Names to bring healing from humiliation to the parts of ourselves that have been hidden and are in need of love and acceptance.

We recite Al-Khafid to diminish the defenses and compensations, and Ar-Rafi’ to elevate the authentic beauty that has been hidden within.
