It might be hard to believe, but I actually have a bachelors degree in Mathematics – was even in the honors program!
Even harder to believe – today is the first time I’ve heard of celebrating Pi Day!
You know the number represented by the Greek letter pi? It represents the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. It’s an irrational number whose decimals repeat infinitely with no pattern (that has been identified as of yet).
3.1415926… Today – March 14 at 1:59:26 was the official Pi day/hour/minute/second! But if you missed it, just round to 3.14 and celebrate all day!!
If I were a baker like my father, his father, his father and so on… I would offer each of you a free slice of your favorite pi. Instead, I invite you to pay tribute to pi day with a fresh, juicy organic orange, apple, tomato, cucumber – whatever delights you.
I’m sure we can draw many correlations between the number pi and the meaning of life, love and healing. I’d love to hear any thoughts you have on this or ways you celebrate pi day!!
Meanwhile, in honor of this infinite and abstract world, I wish you all a Happy Pi Day!!
