Welcome to you and your guts!
My friend, Susan Hamblen, and I were talking the other day, planning for our upcoming Belly Wisdom workshop.
Both of us are “inspired” by how often we hear people, clenching their bellies, say, “If only I could get rid of this!” or “If this would just go away!” or “I just hate this!”
Everybody wants a tight flat belly that never rumbles or aches or, heaven forbid, expels gas.
But guess what – you are 3-dimensional. Your belly is a living, moving, breathing, sensing, feeling entity. No matter what you do to it, it’s there for you, doing its best. On duty – 24×7.
Words and intentions carry energy. We may not think the words we speak about our bellies have any effect, but they do.
Our guts hold on to the emotions and feelings we direct toward them, even if we do not intend to harm them. When energies lodge in our bodies that are not harmonious with our higher vibrations, they introduce obstructions in our energy flow, and this affects their ability to carry out their day-to-day functions.
What’s more, they may never even communicate it to our brains. Your gut has its own nervous system, which contains as many nerves as your entire spinal column and can perform many functions without even communicating with the brain in your head. For this reason, it has the reputation of having a “mind of its own.”
With its own mind, its own feelings and its huge responsibility to keep us nourished and cleaned, free of harmful bacteria and bugs, furnished with essential vitamins, and keep our immune systems functioning – our gut deserves our total respect.
They need love, support and total acceptance as a vital part of our beings.
But if the brains in our heads don’t necessarily have all of the information that the minds in our guts have, how do we communicate with them?
The first step is to develop a relationship that fosters awareness and listening. It’s not that difficult. It just takes a little focus and patience at first. It’s well worth the effort – and essential for healing any irregularities or discomforts of your digestive system.
Learn to listen and love them, and they’ll return the same back for you.
