Food and the Need for Nourishment, Nurturing & Connection
When we are in the womb, we are firmly cradled in a nurturing container. We are attached to our mothers through a physical umbilical cord that delivers nourishment to our developing bodies. We also know ourselves as expansive souls connected to our Source.
When we are born from the womb, we leave the safe container. The physical source of nutrition is cut. We also begin to forget our connection to Source…
Listen to the podcast here:
The knowing of ourselves as expansive souls gives way to a presence of being viewing the world from within a small physical body. We feel ourselves as separate individuals.
Even if your parents were not calm, peaceful, loving, spiritually conscious or otherwise healthy, the nature of the womb itself is one of compassion and connection. Yet, now we are dependent on sources outside of ourselves and outside of our control to provide nourishment, nurturing and the sense of connection. Here the journey of life on earth begins – and it can be scary.
Naturally, we look to food as a source that provides what we are missing. Yet food cannot give us the connection and nurturing we are seeking at this level. That’s why many of us can eat beyond capacity and still not feel satisfied.
Yet, when we are born from the womb of our mothers, we are born into the womb of our mother earth. Everything is contained here, yet the fear that comes up in the transition leaves us with feelings of insecurity and lack, and these feelings can stay with us throughout our lifetimes.
The transition from mother’s womb to earth’s womb is not a smooth one. But when we realize what we’ve been missing and what we need, we can complete the transition for ourselves – connecting ourselves to the provision and nourishment of earth and connection with Source in a conscious way to bring healing to our feelings of disconnection and scarcity.
Naturally, we look to food as a source that provides what we are missing. Yet food cannot give us the connection and nurturing we are seeking at this level. Share on X
That is what we will practice in today’s Prayer & Healing Circle – connecting to the Mother Earth as a source of nourishment, being nurtured in her womb as our home and source of provision, healing our fears of separateness and lack, and releasing our dependence on food as a means of connection.
