Fasting: The Gift of Slowing Down

Fasting is the ultimate Gift of Slowing Down. It is not an action or a ritual, but a non-doing, a state of being that allows your presence to be one with your divine essence. In this state you find many truths and extraordinary healing.

The incredible Divine Design of your physical body gives it the intelligence to heal itself. Our role is to choose the wisdom that gives it the necessary conditions and the space. One of the most powerful gifts we’ve been given to create these conditions is fasting.

Years ago, I had ulcerative colitis, fibrocystic disease, and hypoglycemia. Doctors said these were incurable, I had to live with them. However something inside me knew otherwise. I sought answers, and guess what healed all of this — Fasting! And it’s been over 25 years!

Fasting is pausing the input and giving our bodies a break from processing foods, allowing it to slow down, to cleanse itself and repair itself. Spiritually, it allows us to go inward, to settle in and be present, to quiet ourselves, to listen in the stillness with love and acceptance.

March is National Colorectal Cancer awareness month. We are at the start of Ramadan, and we’re in the midst of Lent. All of these observations can use fasting as a practice of personal healing, spiritual growth, and transformation.

Benefits of fasting include physical healing, mental clarity, alertness, increased energy, more flexibility, increased fluidity in physical movement and attitude – the ability to flow through life with more ease and grace.

In this week’s Meditation & Healing Circle, we be explore the gifts of fasting, and immerse into a meditation practice to realize the mental, emotional, and spiritual benefits of fasting.
