Forgiving Someone Who Shows No Remorse

We can’t escape it. It’s a part of the journey. But we do not need to allow ourselves to be held hostage by the pain of old wounds. We have to find a way, even if it means forgiving someone who shows no remorse!

Someone in your life who has betrayed your trust, who has taken advantage of your innocence. Or someone whose ways are so different from yours, they seem oblivious to your needs. They may seem insensitive, cruel, even evil.

Even if they know they’ve hurt you, they have shown no remorse, taken no responsibility. Maybe they’ve even blamed you. Or maybe they do not realize the extent of the pain they’ve caused you.

You need to be done with this old lingering pain. Not just shove it down and ignore it, but really clear it from your psyche for good. But, how can you forgive someone who shows no remorse?

How can I forgive someone who has clearly done wrong and shows no remorse?

First, what is forgiveness? And who is punished when you cannot forgive? Forgiveness has nothing to do with the other person. Forgiveness, or not, is indicative of your attachment to the wrongdoing. The other person may not be affected at all by your holding on. They might not even be aware of it.

Your holding on only holds you in the attachment, it holds you in the pain and anguish. It keeps you from being able to move beyond into a life of success, prosperity, and fulfillment. It keeps you from evolving and growing beyond your pain or any identity associated with the painful event. Forgiveness may do nothing for the other person especially without their remorse or knowledge.

But it does set you free. It releases you from the time and space of the events and their impacts on you. It does not mean you completely forget and then become vulnerable or susceptible to the trappings of a recurrence. You keep the knowledge and wisdom. You gain discernment and free yourself from the attachments so you can evolve and grow beyond.

Ask of Me, what do you want me to learn and to know? How would you like me to emerge from here? What do you want from and for me beyond this life lesson?

Listen with the ear of your heart. Allow My response to bring you healing. Allow Me to return you to love – to know love, to live in love, to be love.

May you find rest in the arms of the Unconditionally Loving, Most Compassionate. I hope this guides you to set yourself free and fly – to be all of who you were created to be.
