Setting Inspired Intentions

Some people worry that setting intentions is not good, because we need to put our total trust in Source and setting an intention would be counter to that. I want to share some insights about this.

Most people set intentions based on some inspiration that they feel inside. This is important, because what is inspiration? Inspiration comes from God – it is breath of Spirit moving through you. The word inspire comes from the Latin word inspirare, which means to breathe upon or into. It’s a way God speaks to us and motivates us. It’s how God moves and directs us when God wants to manifest some aspect of Divine Essence and Presence into the material realm. We are all conduits for God’s manifestations.

Setting an intention helps us gain clarity on what is wanting to move through us. The word intend comes from the Latin word intendere, which means to stretch toward. Stating an intention directs our attention. It helps us hear the message clearly and say yes. We align our focus with the inspiration and begin to clear the pathway for the manifestation to come through.

Energy flows where attention goes. Literally, when we bring our attention via intention to an energy pathway, we are bouncing light off that pathway, getting the energy moving through that pathway and creating energy flow along that pathway. If the pathway stays on the sideline or ignored, it can get constricted and the energy can become stagnant or blocked. Bringing light to it, breathing into it and saying yes to the flow primes the pump for the incoming manifestations. Our breath and energy flow can begin to synchronize and harmonize with the flow of Divine energy moving through us.

Setting intention and focusing on intention aligns us and opens the pathway. When we take inspired action aligned with the intentions, we meet the Divine Essence and bring it through.

Have faith and trust. When God sends you an inspiration – breath of Spirit breathing through you – trust that God is not making a mistake by tickling your heart center. It is given to you and you are experiencing it because it is meant for you. Trust that God has something for you in this, and that it is meant to move through you into your world. Listen and learn with gratitude.

So if you worry about intention being counter to trust in the Divine flow of the Universe, let that go. You have dreams! You have desires! Trust in them. Trust in Yourself. Align your intention with the inspiration that is moving through you. LISTEN to the messages God is sending you – and say YES!
