A Thanksgiving Prayer for Your Body, Heart & Spirit
Today’s Prayer & Healing Circle offers you a practice to connect with your body and your belly, calm your nervous system and honor your heart and spirit. This is an awesome practice for any time, and it’s especially important during holidays.
Listen to the podcast here:
Here in the US, it’s our week of Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a week where we gather with our families and loved ones in gratitude – but in my family, as in many families, it’s all about the feast! Even for myself, as a vegan in a meat-loving family, I can manage to overstuff myself.
As with any holiday, there’s extra stress. Gathering with extended family, travelling or hosting the dinner, crunch time for shopping and preparing the feast – it takes a toll on the nervous system.
By the end of the holiday, you’re overstuffed and sleep-deprived, ready to crash – unless you venture out to take advantage of the Black Friday sales! Then you’re overstuffed, sleep-deprived and financially stretched.
(For those outside the US, Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving Thursday, when stores offer the greatest discounts for holiday gift-giving. Personally, I sit this one out.)
But let’s back up to the feast. Being in a stressed state is not conducive for digesting food. We need to be present, in our bodies and relaxed in order for our digestive systems to function properly.

Share on XSo in today’s Prayer & Healing Circle, I’ll share a practice with you to drop in to your body, align with your belly, calm your nervous system and be in reverence for your spirit and connection with Source.
Here’s the Thanksgiving prayer included in today’s call. You can keep this to use during holiday meals. It’s a good one to use at any meal – every day!
We give thanks for this food that You have given from Your earth.
Please bless this food and make it holy to nourish our bodies, minds, hearts, souls and spirits. We offer this food to our bodies as a gift of nourishment, to our hearts as a gift of love, and to our spirits as a gift of reverence.
When you’re alone, you can change the pronouns to I/my. In any case, feel it. Let it sink in.
On our call, we do a guided meditation practice to help you get the most from this Thanksgiving Prayer & make this a daily practice.
